The Markforged Metal X System

The Complete Metal 3D Printing Solution

The Metal X 3D print system is an end-to-end manufacturing solution featuring significant benefits compared to the traditional manufacturing process. Use this metal 3D printer for fully functional metal parts at up to 100x less expensive than traditional fabrication techniques such as machining or casting. The printer uses metal powder bound in a plastic matrix to eliminate safety risks, while also enabling features to reduce your part weight and cost. The Metal X prints parts in many materials including Stainless Steel, Titanium and more.

Key Features of the Metal X

safe-and-affordable-system

Safe & Affordable

The Metal X is safe to use and accessible to all. At 5-10x less expansive than other metal printing system, it also requires fewer safety precautions thanks to the waxy polymers binding the metal powder, eliminating the risks, personnel and training associated with loose metal powder.

Eiger-Software

Eiger Software & Ease of Use

Eiger software makes 3D printing simple. Easily import, manipulate and slice your 3D models directly in a web browser with this cloud-based software that comes with every printer. Printers from Markforged also have built-in touchscreens to help you connect to Wi-Fi, start parts and manage your printer.

Variety of Metal Materials

The Metal X prints with a wide range of materials from tool steel to copper, and continues to develop new materials. The variety allows you to get the hardness, strength and other specifications you need for your specific application.

Best-in-Class Reliability

The Metal X was designed for excellent part quality and a seamless user experience. Combining best-in-class software, material research and an advanced motion system, it reliably delivers industrial-grade metal parts.

The Markforged Metal 3D Printing Process: Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing (ADAM) Technology

ADAM-Process-Small

First: Design & Slice

Create your part in you 3D CAD software, then upload the STL file to the Markforged Eiger software and select your material. Eiger will slice your part and automatically generate support as necessary.

Second: Print

Metal powder bound in waxy polymer is printed layer by layer into the shape of your part. Files are automatically scaled up for printing to compensate for the shrinkage that will occur during sintering.

Next: Wash

Once your parts are printed on the Metal X, they are placed into a debinding fluid within the Wash-1 which dissolves much of the plastic binding material from the metal powder.

Finally: Sinter

After washing, parts are sintered in a furnace at approximately 85% of the metal’s melting point, burning away any remaining binder and fusing the metal powder into a solid metal part ready for use.
